Metamorphic Symphony

As times change, the form of society has been constantly renewed. If society is a container, the interaction between people is like the molecules in the container colliding with each other, sometimes close and sometimes distant. At different times, as a container carries, society shows different states of social relations.

In the pre-modern era, the stable experiences and fixed social classes, institutions, and concepts of social relations produced a social state that lacked freedom, centralization, and repression, forming a "solid" society. According to the sociologist-philosopher Zygmunt Bauman in his book published in 2000, "Modernity in Mobility,” he pointed out that "In “liquid" modernity, there are no longer eternal relationships, bonds, and interpersonal ties become less tight and more readily loosened." Society as a container carries liquidity, and the space for interaction between "molecules" (people) has become large and free. The "instability" of modern society has become a major characteristic of individuals and their interaction patterns. The "liquid" state produces more individual solitude, freedom, and disorder, and a consequent break from the previous state of repression and fixity, tautness, and imbalance. Creativity replaces certainty and the dilemmas of the self and self-worth change from what they were before.

We can't say what the future social model will be, but the coexistence of multiple forms of society will surely bring people the freedom to live a varied and regular life. The different molecular densities of solid, liquid, and gas are the best way to express the interaction between human beings in society, and also the ultimate form of the future diversified society. In this work, we utilize a variety of materials and forms including plaster, fabric, wool, and digital visual, and the entanglement of materials reflects the interplay of each social structure and state.

The structure of the installation is like a physical power struggle, clearly depicting the iteration of social structures and human relationships while displaying different forms of social status, and the fusion of materials reflects our vision of the diversity of future social states.
